1. THE WWE
World Wrestling Entertainment has never been this popular or this action-packed. With younger guys taking the ring, wrestling has become faster and a heck of a lot tougher. The most popular wrestlers of this generation, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, The Rock, Triple H, The Undertaker and Edge are putting the smack dab on TV ratings with their bad attitudes and bone crushing moves. A guaranteed winner on all accounts, WWE is a like a giant syringe of adrenaline pumped straight into your heart. You gotta get a piece of this!
2. ACCEPT NO SUBSTITUTES
He's the most electrifying man in the biz. The People's Champion. The Great One. Call him whatever you will, for millions of fans around the world, there is no substitute for, there is only one - The Rock.
The lights go down, the music comes up and The Rock takes the ring. The arena is ecstatic, there is no other show like his. The Rock leaves fans gripping to the edge of their seats. A multi-time WWE Champion, The Rock has what it takes to layeth the smacketh down on the mat, leaving his opponent to lick their wounds long after the dust has settled. The Rock often directs his charm into the microphone, dazzling fans with his smart wit and his ability to chat up the smack. You don't want to get in the Brahma Bull's way.
Rock is an all-star superstar, having starred in the feature film The Mummy Returns, and its amazingly successful prequel, The Scorpion King. His autobiography, "The Rock Says ..." was a New York Times No. 1 best-seller.
The biggest thing to hit professional wrestling since Hulk Hogan, the sky's the limit for the biggest star in the WWE universe ... if ya smell what The Rock is cookin'!
3. WILL THE REAL FLEX CAVANA PLEASE STAND UP!
Here's a funny little fact, for all you The Rock fans: The Rock's original character name in the WWF was Flex Cavana. However, he only wrestled under that name once.
4. DEEP FRIED TURKEY
Some of these superstars have done some pretty stellar things outside the ring as well - Scott Hall has a degree in Pre-Med from William & Mary. Kevin Nash played Super Shredder in the movie, "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II". Nitro Girl "Spice" is a licensed chiropractor. And Jim Hellwig, known to you and me as The Warrior, studied to become a chiropractor in Atlanta.
The WWE originally hired Bobby "The Brain" Heenan to be Jesse "The Body" Ventura's manager. Not sure what happened to "The Brain", but after starring in the movie, Predator with Arnold Schwarzenegger, "The Body" went on to be everyone's favorite governor of Minnesota.
5. BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS
Many wrestlers have taken to superior events outside the ring as well. "Macho Man" Randy Savage once signed a minor league contract with the Cincinnati Reds in 1974. In 1995, Kurt Angle tried out for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Needless to say, he did not make the team. But what about going for the gold?
World Wrestling an Olympic sport? Hmmm, not likely any time soon. However, wrestler and all-round towering monster of a man, Giant Gonzalez represented his home country of Argentina in the 1988 Olympics. His sport of choice was basketball.
6. DEATH VALLEY DELIGHT
At 6 foot 10 inches, the Undertaker might have thought of a career in basketball as well. Hailing from Death Valley at 328 pounds, he's a massive menace to be reckoned with.
For a dozen years, the Undertaker has been a WWE cornerstone. He's swapped paint with all the greats, from Hulk Hogan and the Ultimate Warrior to Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock. Better yet, he has lived to tell about it. No other superstar has ever had his kind of success, no one.
A four-time WWE Champion, Undertaker had the privilege of performing in the main event at WrestleMania 13. In fact, Taker's WrestleMania record is second to none -- he is an amazing 10-0 at Mania events!
The Undertaker has also been on the bleeding edge of the most original matches and concepts in WWE history. He is the innovator of Inferno Matches, Casket Matches, and, of course, the famed Hell in the Cell Match.
With his longevity, has come envy from many other wrestlers, some now deem the Undertaker as one of the bad guys. But, the Taker can weather it, he's seen them come and go, yet remains standing after all this time.
7. CASKET MATCH
The Rock vs. The Panda in a Casket Match to the finish.
When the World Wildlife Fund also known as the WWF, requested that the WWF change it's name, they had much to ponder. Would they take the Panda into the ring? Well, seeing how the World Wildlife Fund was such a cool organization and has been around since before Hulk Hogan was in diapers, the WWF agreed and made the infamous switch-a-roo into the WWE.
8. WILD GAME
"Kane, you're probably sitting in a hole back there, shaking like a leaf. I can't very much blame you. I wouldn't want to get in the ring with me either." - Hunter Hearst-Helmsley, a.k.a. Triple H
The Game. The Unstoppable Force. He is that good. He is Triple H.
He started out as Hunter Hearst-Helmsley and was a very different person during those earlier times. Considered a rich womanizing brat from Greenwich, Connecticut, but quickly his status changed. It all came to a point against another up and comer who would also set to make his mark on the world.
Rocky Maivia and Hunter Hearst-Helmsley had tangled before, feeling each other out and seemingly understanding that when they clashed in the future, the stakes would be higher. They sure were right about that. On February 13, 1997, they battled for Hunter's Intercontinental title. Suddenly, the flamboyant, unpredictable Goldust appeared, diverting Hunter's attention. Seizing the moment, Rocky Maivia, soon to be known as The Rock, pounced, pinning Helmsley and winning the title.
Rocky's win was overshadowed by a bizarre scuffle at ringside. During the clash, a striking, muscular woman emerged from nowhere and assaulted Goldust's manager Marlena. Fans marveled at the lady who'd seen be dubbed "the Ninth Wonder of the World", otherwise known as Chyna. The memory of his loss soon faded, when the crowd hailed Hunter as a genius for "discovering" Chyna and hiring her as his special bodyguard. By changing his name Hunter Hearst-Helmsley to the sleeker, Triple H. He altered the future of the WWF forever.
"This Game is not over, it is just beginning."
