THE FILTH & THE FURY
Even though Jonny Rotten and the band still tour to this day, the original Sex Pistols were in existence for only 26 months and recorded only one album, yet they changed the face of music forever.

TOO FAST TO LIVE, TOO YOUNG TO DIE
"SEX: TOO FAST TO LIVE, TOO YOUNG TO DIE" is the name of the band's latest compilation album. The collection is based around 20 records from the jukebox of Malcolm McLaren and Vivienne Westwood's infamous Kings Road store called SEX. This very store is where the Sex Pistols were initially hatched.

JUKEBOX HEROES
"I used to spend most days sitting around the Sex shop instead of being at school, I hated old music almost as much as I hated new music, but these records sounded like nothing else I'd had ever heard, it was music by outcasts for outcasts that's why they excited me, and that's why they still do." Marco Pirroni 2003

WAKE THE DEAD
A new Sid Vicious CD titled "Too Fast To Live" will be released in February 2004. It reportedly will include three "Sid singles", plus an unissued solo live show from New York. A new book called "Vicious:Too Fast To Live" will also be released to accompany the CD.

MR. & MRS. JOHN RITCHIE
Two punk junkies fall in love and when their pact goes wrong he stabs her to death in their room at the Chelsea Hotel in Manhattan. He is charged with first degree murder and a few months later dies of a heroin overdose from drugs supplied by his own mother. Or so the tabloids reported. His name was John Simon Ritchie, but we all knew him as Sid Vicious. Such is the anti-hero's journey as told by Alex Cox's 1986 film, "Sid & Nancy".

SID & NANCY
I think the film does romanticise Sid and Nancy. I set out to make a romantic film and given that they are the central characters, inevitably it romanticises them. But I don't think it glorifies them, and that's an important distinction. There was nothing glorious about them. Nancy's big fantasy was that they would go out in this big blaze of glory -" I'm gonna die before I'm 2l, so there" - but they didn't go out gloriously. In fact they went out ignominiously, in a stupid way. They were junkies and that was stupid because they just sat around in rooms all day being unproductive. If you actually look at the real Sid and Nancy, say in the long sequence in Lech Kowalski's film D.O.A., it's depressing, they were just boring. Sid was pathetic. We've taken the liberty of making them more interesting than they were in real life: that is what every biopic does. But I hope we haven't romanticised the crap paraphernalia that surrounded them." - Alex Cox, director of 'Sid & Nancy'

SIMPLY ROTTEN
"We heard he'd got a hold of the script and read it. When I was in New York casting I heard through the grapevine that he was staying at the Mayflower Hotel. So I called up and left this really insulting message "What are you, a wanker that's scared to meet me." something to provoke a reaction. It did the trick, he returned my call at 5.00am while I was sleeping. He gave me an earful of abuse, he told me the whole thing was disgusting and I should be ashamed of myself." - Alex Cox speaking of Jonny Rotten's reaction to the film, 'Sid & Nancy'

ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME
The Sex Pistols have once again been nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Whether or not they win a trip into memory lane will be determined in December with the awards show being held in March 2004.

PISS OFF
"Piss Off" was the official name of the band's recent 2003 US tour. The tour might be over but, Glen Matlock hit the bricks immediately on arrival with the band, "Dead Men Walking".

LAID TO ARREST
'I don't think Nancy ever was a punk, Sid definitely was, but he was likeable in a dopey kind of way. Had he survived he would have become the Liberace or Wayne Newton of punk, doing cover versions of "Delilahí or Twenty Four Hours From Tulsai. But how could that be? I'm sometimes not even sure if Sid and Nancy do fit into the whole punk thing. The real significance was this all-consuming love affair. The cynics might say it was just a love affair with drugs, but I think it was more than that. The rare instance when two people become inseparable, that's what was significant about their lives. - Alex Cox
