FRANK CASTLE
6" 3"
260 lbs.
Blue eyes
Black hair
These are the stats for the comic book hero the Punisher. Other than his extensive military and combat training, he possesses no superhero power, yet he can kick butt with the best of them. In fact, that is what he does best.
A MARVEL
In the Marvel Universe, no symbol strikes fear in the hearts of criminals than the stark skull calling card of the Punisher. Frank Castle is an undercover government special agent pushed over the edge when his entire family was executed and he was left for dead. By a stroke of good luck, Frank Castle is reborn as The Punisher and emerges hell bent one simple goal - to punish those that murdered his loved ones.
GASH FOR NASH
Pro wrestler "Kevin Nash" had to cut to his hair for his role as the big bad guy. To explain away his haircut to his adoring wrestling fans, he put on a show to bet his hair in a match against another wrestler named, Chris Jericho. During their knife fight, Thomas Jane accidentally stabbed Kevin Nash, giving him a gash.
TAMPA BUTT-KICKIN?-NEER
The latest film adaptation of the Punisher was filmed and set in Tampa, Florida. However before settling on that locale, the production also pondered over Biloxi, Mississippi; Mobile, Alabama; New Orleans, Louisiana and Galveston, Texas.
BUTT-KICKIN?-NEER RIDE
For Thomas Jane's Punisher-outfitted Pontiac GTO, five identical cars had to be created and two of those were totally destroyed during the crash sequence. In the Dolph Lundgren film, he rode a motorcycle and the producers chose to go with a muscle car instead to distance itself from that film version.
THE 411
During the shooting in Tampa, the production set off a giant explosion at the front of the Bank of America building, of course this was only movie magic, but because not all locals knew of what was going to happen, hundreds of people called 911 thinking it was an actual explosion and possible terrorist attack.
PUNISHED
Punisher actor, Thomas Jane stands at 5" 11 1/2", while Punisher director Jonathan Hensleigh stands at 6" 3" - the same height as the comic book version of the Punisher. However, Jane did put on between 20 to 40 pounds in muscle for his role as the skull boasting hero.
WAR JOURNAL
Near the end of the film, Frank Castle lists the basis of his vigilante philosophy in a written journal. These thoughts were also the building blocks for the comic book series about the Punisher's ongoing campaign against organized crime, called "Punisher War Journal".
BROTHER BOUGHT A COCOANUT
The very cool and very funny, "popsicle interrogation" scene in the new film was inspired by a nearly identical scene in the comic book, "Punisher War Zone" #1, published in 1992.
CAST A STONE
Many actors were approached or considered for the role of Frank Castle, including - Vin Diesel, Tony Ganios and Hugh Jackman. Hugh Jackman had to turn down the role as he was already in pre-production with "Van Helsing".
SEW IT SHUT
During a scene where Rebecca Romijn-Stamos was sewing up a knife wound on Thomas Jane, she accidentally pushed the needle a bit too far and sewed a couple stitches into his skin beyond the protective prosthetic wound where the stitches were suppose to go.
YEAR ONE
The license plate on Frank Castle's car reads, "Year One". It however doesn't refer to the Year One plot in the Punisher comic, instead it is the name of the automobile customizing company that outfitted the GTO for the film.
