Not every television family is composed of the traditional: Mother, and father, brother, and sister, cat, and dog stereotype. On the contrary, the past few years have put a whole new spin on television families. People want realism and entertainment. The Osbournes can give you just that.
The Osbournes is a show concerning the day to day life of famous British heavy-metal rock star Ozzy Osbourne and his family. At first it seemed the show wouldn’t be much of a success considering the average fan of Ozzy’s were considered by the public to be punks. However, viewers everywhere soon became wowed by the mood of the show. Ozzy’s wife, Sharon, is a sensible woman, and their children Jack and Kelly are at a ripe young age. They are just like any other family who live each day and try to solve the problems that arise. They have a few domestic pets that prove to be a hassle to train, and Jack and Kelly are forever quarrelling. They do appear to have the qualities of a dysfunctional family, but underneath the surface lays a family with the same issues that most people can relate to.
The show does have its share of cursing and can be a little over zealous at times, but it’s entertaining. This is the key to the success of any show.
