A devastating war has begun between mysterious aliens called the Angels and the agency called NERV along with the Evangelions. The Evangelions are the human race’s last chance to save what is left of the planet.

There are mysteries abound in this 2015 world. For example, why was the earth hit fifteen years ago? It could have been a natural occurrence, a meteorite perhaps. However the possibility of this devastation being the result of an alien attack cannot be ruled out. The NERV agency has its own secrets that need to be unraveled and the Angels have secret agendas yet to be puzzled out. NERV has classified the first attack by the Angels as the third for some reason and what about the Eva pilots? The only "qualified" pilots are those born exactly nine months after the second attack that wiped out over half of the human race.

This fabulous 26 episode series was created by Gainax, the anime team the created the Gunbuster series. After disappearing for four years, they can back with this high quality show. The success was overwhelming so much so that they did two re-edits of the final two episodes of the series and now there is also the spin-off, Manga.
