Born in Seattle on November the 27, 1942, Jimi Hendrix was destined for greatness. In the 1950's, Jimi's parents divorced and his dad, Al, raised him. At a young age, he took a liking to his father's music collection. He loved the "classic blues and Jazz" his father owned. Durning his teen years, Jimi loved the Rock and Roll and R&B. Noticing his sons love for music, Al, promptly bought him a guitar. Jimi loved it so much and became so good he was able to play in some local bands. It wasn't until 1966 that Jimi had his big break.
So he had played with other bands such as Little Richard, Isley Brothers, and Sam Cooke, but this is when he formed his own band, The Jimi Henrix Experience. The first son they sang was Hey Joe. In the summer of 1967 they released the album: "Are you experienced" which took the number 2 position in the British charts just behind the Beatles' Sergeant Peppers lonely Hearts Club Band album. Jimi played many concerts in this time but his most celebrated concert would have to be in 1969 at Woodstock where he played the famous Star-Spangled Banner. On 17 September 1970, Jimi Hendrix died of a suffocation from an overdose of sleeping pills. He was staying with his girlfriend at the time, Monika Dannemann.
The Album Jimi Hendrix had been working on right before he died was: First Ray of the New Rising Sun. From there we remember Jimi as a guitarist legend.
