HULK HOGAN
The World Wrestling Federation really struck gold in the 1980’s thanks to the champion we all know as Hulk Hogan.
Hulk Hogan’s real name is Terry Bollea, and he was born on August 11 1953. Interestingly, Hogan never had any intentions of being a wrestler. He was discovered one night in the 1970’s playing in a band at a local nightclub. He was introduced into the world of professional wrestling soon after. In order to be a wrestler Hogan had to train under a martial arts master and also began to body build. By 1980 Hogan began to appear in the AWA and the WWF. However, his popularity didn’t peek until 1982 when he appeared in Rocky III. With this great achievement Hogan was taken back to the WWF and made the central point of the organization. It was through his great success and popularity that made the WWF so famous.
Hulk Hogan began to appear in many other movies and specials that were aired on MTV. He appeared in the first Wrestlemania. This made the WWF nationally popular. Wrestlemania II followed, but it wasn’t until Wrestlemania III that the WWF earned its greatest reward. Over 92,000 fans piled into the Pontiac Silverdome to watch Hogan take on Andre the Giant and gain his title back despite his early injury.
For many years after, Hogan continued to be popular and the hero for all young fans everywhere. He took the WWF where it never dreamed possible and remains today as a timeless wrestler.
