DETROIT RED WINGS
The Detroit Red Wings are known to be one of the best hockey teams of all time.
The Red Wings were originally known as the Detroit Cougars when they were first franchised as a team in 1926. In 1930 they were later nicknamed the Falcons; and finally in 1932 they changed their name to the Red Wings and that’s the name that stuck. Through out their history the Red Wings have managed to win nine Stanley Cups. Seven of these championships were achieved over a twenty year period between 1935 and 1955.
Not only did the Red Wings manage to have Stanley Cup success, but they were also fortunate enough to be associated with some of the greatest hockey players of all time. Some of these include: Red Kelly, Terry Sawchuk and Gordie Howe. They also had Scotty Bowman who was known to be the best coach of all time. It is for these simple reasons that the Red Wings were able to make a name for themselves and continue through out their career as one of the leading hockey teams in the NHL.
To make the championships it takes more than just skill; it takes an honest love for the game of hockey. Players who achieve above and beyond in any sport can do so because they play with heart. Hockey players shine not only as individuals but as a team. It’s about working together to achieve the greatest goal – The Stanley Cup.
The Red Wings have proved their worth through many years and their fans know it.
