DENNIS THE MENACE
One of the funniest cartoons to be produced in the 1980’s was Dennis the Menace.
Dennis the Menace originally began as a comic strip that was published in both the US and the UK in the year 1951, which was created by Hank Ketchum. This comic strip was the inspiration for the popular cartoon that surfaced in the middle of the 1980’s. There were 78 episodes altogether, and every Saturday morning children would wake up to the hilarious adventures of Dennis the Menace.
The basic concept of the show was young Dennis was a mischievous, out-of-control child who loved to torment his neighbor Mr. Wilson. He his friends and his dog Ruff were always getting into trouble; however, despite all of his naughty ways, Dennis was always forgiven for his loveable and carefree personality.
The characters of Dennis the Menace include Dennis Mitchell, his parents, Ruff (dog), Hotdog (cat), Mr. and Mrs. Wilson, and his friends, Margaret, Joey and Gina. After the show was taken off the air, these characters had another go at success when a live action movie was created in the early 1990’s. The movie was a cute adaptation of the Dennis the Menace series, but never held the same success as the cartoons.
Dennis the Menace has been featured on many different articles and merchandise. If you are a fan of Dennis the Menace there are a number of items that you can get to commemorate this funny and fantastic cartoon.
