The main character Hideki is your average country-boy citizen who leaves his small home town and is looking for the big life in Tokyo. Hideki wants all of the decent things in life that any young man would want – a great car, decent job, and most importantly, an attractive girlfriend. The only difference is the girlfriend he’s looking for isn’t your ordinary girl, she’s a robot.

Hideki manages to meet a girl robot, Chi, but she is anything but the girl of his dreams. She is quite a hassle and often leaves him in unfavorable predicaments. Nevertheless the two seem to hit it off, and as the story progresses and with each passing episode, the two become closer. As time progresses in the story, Chi begins to develop a personality, and the question then remains – Is she Chobit, an A.I. rumored to exist on the internet.

The cast of characters that decorate the storyline of Chobit include Takako Shimizu, Plum, Shimbo Hiroshi, Minoru Kokubunji, Chitose Hibiya, Yuzuki, Hiroyasu Ueda, Yumi Oumura, Zima and Dita, and Kotoko.
