BLUES BROTHERS
Although The Blues Brothers was released over twenty years ago, the Blues Brothers are just as popular as they always were. No one really knows why this fantastic, funky theme caught on, but one thing is certain ; it caught on !
It’s incredible that something that hadn’t produced a single new show in over ten years, could create an unbelievably celebrated sequel, The Blues Brothers 2000.
The premise behind the Blues Brothers movie – which was first released in 1980 was the efforts of Jake and Elwood Blues, to raise the $5000 that was needed to rescue their childhood parish.
Jake Blues had just been released from prison ; he was met by his brother Elwood and they set out to Chicago where they grew up. There, they discovered that the orphanage as well as the parish connected to it were being repossessed and they are determined to save it. To do so, they reunited their old band and took their show on the road. They head out on a road trip across the country to reunite all of the old band members…except it seems that the other guys have changed slightly ; they all have jobs, wives and responsibilities !
Of course, while touring, things don’t go as smoothly as planned, and they end up wreaking havoc on the entire city of Chicago as well as much of the Midwest.
Fabulous performances were made by John Belushi and Dan Akroyd, who played Jake and Elwood blues, as well as Kathleen Freeman and legend James Brown in the roles of Sister Mary Stigmata and Reverend Cleophis James.
Show everyone you’re as cool as they are, with the Blues Brothers t-shirts !
