Though the cartoon was popular in itself, it was Beavis and Butthead’s first movie, which came to us in 1996, that truly brought them their staggering global fame. Their movie, “Beavis and Butthead Do America” is a bizarre adaptation of the MTV cartoon.
The story begins as Beavis and Butthead's beloved television set is stolen. When the dimwitted duo stumble their way into a hotel promising free TV, they are mistaken for hit men and sent to Las Vegas. From Vegas, through a series of further misunderstandings, the pair bumble their way across America, defiling landmarks as they go.
Fans of the now-defunct TV show obviously enjoyed this film the most, though almost anyone with a passing awareness of the characters will find something to chuckle about.
The funniest recurring gag finds beleaguered Beavis and Butthead neighbor Tom Anderson constantly sabotaged by the guys while on vacation.
Celebrity voices are fun to pick out, particularly that of David Letterman, who rather appropriately plays Butt-head's long-lost father.
